Resources and Opportunities for Small Museums

Join IAM and Southern Illinois area museums "On the Road" as we connect with museum people at a morning workshop and visit area museums in the afternoon. Randolph County's workshop will explore available resources for small museums in southern Illinois and how museums can network together for a stronger voice.

From 8:30 - 11:30 am, IAM will offer a free workshop and networking time. After lunch, participants can join a "museum hop" to visit area sites and learn from colleagues.

About Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail & The King's Road

The Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail was an overland router that already existed when the French arrived to the Illinois Country. The road followed ancient animal and Native American trails avoiding natural barriers, creeks and streams. What the French called the "King's Road," was the first road in Illinois, used by French soldiers and settlers from 1718, running from Kaskaskia to Cahokia.
